A visit to the Giraffe Centre in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, home to the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Guests climb a raised wooden viewing platform to hand-feed the giraffes at eye level and learn about the centre's breeding and conservation programme, which has helped bring the species back from the brink in Kenya.

A guided motorboat excursion on the glassy waters of Lake Naivasha, one of the Rift Valley's most bird-rich lakes. The boat glides among papyrus beds where African fish eagles swoop for catches, cormorants dry their wings, and kingfishers dart in flashes of electric blue. Hippo pods surface unexpectedly close to the boat as the golden sunset reflects off the water. Evening departures are particularly magical.

A visit to Sanctuary Farm on the shores of Lake Naivasha — a private conservancy home to Rothschild giraffes, zebras, Cape buffaloes, and over 200 bird species. Guests walk freely among the giraffes, feed them from hand, and explore the lakeshore under the guidance of a naturalist. Optional boat trips, cycling within the property, and sundowner drinks overlooking the lake complete a perfect afternoon.

A visit to Thomson's Falls in Nyahururu — a breathtaking 74-metre waterfall named after Scottish explorer Joseph Thomson who "discovered" it in 1883. The falls plunge into a deep forested gorge surrounded by colobus monkeys and colourful forest birds. A short walking trail descends to the base of the falls for an up-close view of the thundering torrent. Local artisans sell carvings and crafts near the viewing platform.

A full-morning game drive through Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya's largest black rhino sanctuary and home to the world's last two northern white rhinos. Beyond rhinos, the conservancy shelters healthy populations of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, lion and leopard across its open plains, with expert guides tracking sightings throughout the drive.

A guided hike through the ancient montane forest surrounding Castle Forest Lodge on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The trail winds through moss-draped trees where black-and-white colobus monkeys leap overhead, sunbirds flash between giant tree heathers, and the mist rolls in from the mountain above. A naturalist guide identifies plants, fungi, and animal signs along the route. One of the most atmospheric forest experiences in East Africa.

A respectful cultural visit to a traditional Maasai manyatta (village) — one of Kenya's most iconic cultural experiences. Warriors in full red shuka and beaded jewellery demonstrate the adumu (jumping dance), fire-making, and spear throwing. Elders explain the pastoral lifestyle, cattle-centred economy, and age-grade social system. Traditional crafts and beadwork are available directly from the artisans. Entrance fees go directly to the community.
